There is a sense of counterpoint and balance between the transparency of the painted silk which appears to support the weight and earthiness of the heavy steel arcs. The piece is set in an enclosed glass atrium between two floors of office space. The building was being refurbished after the Bishopsgate bomb. Thematically the piece relates loosely as a metaphor for the phoenix rising from the flames.
