Art in a box

Christine Wilcox-Baker

Mini-gallery for contemporary art positioned at the entrance to Handforth (Nr. Manchester) railway station. Referencing the railway heritage in its carriage-style windows, Christine Wilcox-Baker has up-cycled redundant bicycle lockers to form a new venue for changing exhibitions. Finalist placed third in National ACoRP Community Rail Awards 2015 - Community Art Schemes (permanent). I was also commissioned by the Friends of Handforth Station to create the opening exhibit (April 2015 - June 2016). 'Reflect' commemorated the local young men who went to war in 1914-18. Sculpted from laser cut acrylic mirror, the work invited the viewer to consider by reflection their own reaction to WW1.
