A communal project in progress
B.R.E.A.D. began as a personal exploration—through sandstone, bread, and pilot meals—into the politics and poetics of making.
Inspired by the image of a carbonised loaf of bread found in Pompeii, it reflects on survival, sustenance, and autonomy, revealing the intersections of micro-industrial and decorative survivalism: how small-scale production and crafted objects sustain us materially and culturally.
Still evolving, B.R.E.A.D. is growing into a socially engaged project that brings people together through food, clay, and fire. It relies on portable structures, hand-built tableware from local clay, and the creation of a communal oven, creating spaces where making and sharing food become acts of collective creativity and resilience.
