"Beach Pigment Lipstick ".

By  Tim Pugh 2018
South beach in Whitehaven,West Cumbria has many pebbles sourced from a waste slag bank backed up on the beach. The multi coloured slag waste cliff is a by product from an old colliery which closed down in 1947.Whilst experimenting on the beach,I noticed that the waste product pebbles created vivid colours when rubbed onto had stone.I then had the idea to create a drawing of a lipstick and use the coloured pigment to recreate the glossy tones.I first drew out the outline of a lipstick onto a hard rock surface and then after sourcing the correct pebbles, coloured in the various tones and hues. The drawing was completed and photographed just before a rain sower washed the drawing away.
