Black Lace Silk Mittens

Hand-made in the late C18th, only one of these Brussels silk lace mittens survives, slightly damaged, in the collection of global textiles at Gawthorpe Hall, Lancashire. In this ink drawing the original pair has been meticulously recreated by the artist, giving the viewer the opportunity to contemplate their incredible historical journey.
