Blow up De Waterkant

By Victoria Malcolm 2011 - 2014
This is based on a tiny property advert from a Cape Town newspaper which has been transcribed into paintings so successfully they keep selling and I have to consider what it is about the image that makes it so appealing: it is an arcadian scene-a high position cave-like, protected, shady, with access to clear calm water, greenery and sunshine and the urban community nearby. In order to keep working with this image I decided to rework it larger every time, scaling up the brushes accordingly. This is the third and largest version.
