Blue

By  Maria Kuipers 2013 - 2016
A shift in my work this last year or two has been exciting. I'm concentrating more on colour and spatial relationships and which relates to 'inside and outside' spaces, the internal psyche and external world, which is the essence of what my paintings are about. Sensitive surfaces play an important part in evoking that sense of history, of mystery and tactility. Different 'states of being' also allude to a spiritual inheritance, a stillness and a presence. The blue with the purple grey seems to make the painting sing. My paintings need to be seen in the flesh to 'feel' the textures, surfaces and colours, which can so often be missed online.
