Capital

By  Janet Sang 2016
This is the first in the series Capital, whose title refers to the capital city London and to the economic system of capitalism. Both are referenced through the iconic skyscrapers of London's financial centre. These are depicted cryptically, using representations of the objects from which they derive their nicknames (for example, 30 St Mary Axe is known as ‘The Gherkin’). By combining photographic and digitized imagery in a collaging process and by developing some of the hybrid forms which emerge, relations are suggested between the world of finance, the arms trade, and the disasters of war. Printed by the artist at Volcanic Editions, Brighton. Edition of 12.
