Caran D'Ache

This is part of a series of a site responsive artwork made for the Harrow Arts Centre Gallery solo show. Coloured crepe paper is suspended from the ceiling by sticky tape. The tape twists naturally and has not been moulded in any way. This gives the appearance of fluid or poured paint, drips, splashes, runs, lines and the coloured paper becomes a kind of painting or drawing. This reflects the function of the building which runs many art classes and links to the Impressionists, great favourites amongst early learners. The paper is light and strands float around the viewer, spookily moving with the air that person has displaced as if it wants to grip the viewer.
