The title for this series is a phrase used by planners in relation to long term decision making processes, wherein the timescale within which these decisions will make an impact is so vast that it is impossible to predict the outcome.
Copper is a material that can link the past, present and future in relation to Wylfa Nuclear Power Station. The past: copper mining at near by Parys Mountain, the present: the cables along which electricity is transported, the future: the use of copper as a containment material for radioactive waste. I have used recycled copper wire, stripped from domestic electrical cables, as a thread to weave with. In 'Decisions Made Under Uncertainty: One' the copper wire is on a loom on which weaving is an ongoing process, much like the decision-making surrounding waste containment.
