Dialogue 3: Mac Birmingham April – September 2012 Birmingham-Bordeaux artists’ exchange programme 2008-2014 Dialogue is the collective name of a group of artists who collaborate on a number of joint projects each year alongside their individual arts practice. The artists involved cover a diverse range of disciplines that includes; painting, sculptural installations, photography, video and print. They have all exhibited widely in group and solo projects in the UK and abroad and have also curated international and UK exhibitions. The group completed a six month project in conjunction with MAC Birmingham (Midland Arts Centre) between April and September 2012. This brought together 18 artists, including artists from France, Germany and Ireland. The event involved joint presentations of images, texts and video by UK and either French, German or Irish artists as work developed during the period. In addition to wall-mounted material, a monitor located permanently within the space was used to show: • Work presented from spaces in France via a webcam link • Work via webcam from artists’ studios in France • Performance events • Interviews • Video and still photography • Texts Ongoing Dialogue material is archived for use within the next phase of the project and a Dialogue blog is currently logging exchanges. http://dialogue-uk-fr.tumblr.com/
