Drawing Alex

Developed from a two minute study in my life class. I was interested in the two dimensional relationship between the two figures and the psychological relationship of scrutiny and subservience, which was perhaps particularly interesting as it is the female artist doing the scrutinising. I try to draw attention to certain elements in a painting in a specific order and in this case I wanted the artist to be visible before the model, it was this which influenced a lot of my colour choices. I first made a collage at a small scale, exploring the shapes and colour relationships before embarking on this large scale painting.
