Drawing the Curtain

By  William Luz 2025

Installation as part of Artober, Royal William Yard, Plymouth, 2025.

The work presented for Artober is an installation entitled 'How to Draw the Curtains', incorporating text, mixed media collages, works on paper, sound piece and fabric around a custom built frame.

The idea of the performance of drawing (the curtain was drawn on in the space during opening hours) and staging drawing in a way to try to bring it alive but acknowledging that this is in reality a futile attempt.
The impetus was a performance of a workshop or maybe a workshop of a performance devliered as part of the 5th birthday celebrations at the Box Plymouth which saw me give a guided talk/instruction on drawing curtains that purposefully obfuscated any attempt to actually give instruction on how one might go about actually drawing a curtain.
