‘Entitled, 2012’ is a ‘curatorial artwork’ that was specifically created for the exhibition ‘Fayre’ (curated by Ahmed & Carpenter) as part of a research residency for Lionel Dobie Project [http://lioneldobieproject.com/mikechavezdawson], Manchester, UK. INFO: Artists and designers were invited to design a leading contemporary artist’s name as a logo [the invitees chosen ‘artist’ must have influenced their view of the current ‘contemporary art market’, i.e. Gillian Wearing], these then featured as part of a show-reel titled: 'Entitled, 2012' [LDP Mcr 'Fayre' Version 1]' contextualized within a sculptural market stand made from a local fruit market universal palette. Peter Saville legendary designer chose his favorite logo from one of the final ten, the winner was Brian Reed’s with his artist logo of ‘Richard Prince’ (1 minute in the show reel). Artists Names As Logos For Mike Chavez-Dawson’s ‘Entitled’: ‘Richard Prince’ by Brian Reed, 2012 [WINNER – selected by Peter Saville] ‘Danny Flavin’ by Jim Medway, 2012 ‘FS: Frank Stella’ by James Roper, 2012 ‘Jeff Koons’ by Rob Dunne, 2012 ‘Mark McGowan’ by Frog Morris, 2012 ‘Gary Webb’ by Keith Farquhar, 2012 ‘Damien Hirst’ by Richard Shields, 2012 ‘Marina Abramovic’ by Sandra Bouguerch, 2012 ‘Gerhard Richter’ by Andrew Bracey, 2012 ‘Gillian Wearing’ by Tasha Willcocks, 2012 ‘Ed Ruscha’ by Nick Jordan, 2012 A Curatorial Artwork Project by Mike Chavez-Dawson, 2012. Special thanks to: all the contributing artists, Helen & Lois at LDP, Taneesha & Annie at Rogue Artists Studios, Li Carp, Matthew Pendergast and Peter Saville’s Studio (Peter & Alice).
