"Enveloped".

The temporary intervention was created at South Beach in Whitehaven ,West Cumbria in September 2019. The beaches to the south of Whitehaven are a mecca for plastic bottle tops washed ashore from far flung places brought in on tides.I wanted to highlight the sheer amount of lids deposited on the tideline by temporarily adhering the collected lids onto a boulder,giving the impression of the rock being engulfed or overwhelmed .After photography I dismantle the artworks and reuse the plastic for further visual experimentation and investigation or take to schools for use in workshop activities with young artists.
