Eurydice Two

Still focussing on liminal spaces, I have yet to find the intended significance a door-knocker on an un-openable door but it seems important. Eurydice Two is the second painting that references Vergina, the site of the royal tombs of Phillip II of Macedonia and his mother Queen Eurydice, father and grandmother of Alexander the Great. The painting evokes the marble doors, supposedly closed for eternity. The patterns are filched from a painted throne in Eurydice’s tomb C.340 BCE and touch on the considerable amount of bling in The Vergina Museum.
Oil painting on deep canvas.
