“glisk” - a gleam of sunlight through cloud; a glow of heat from a fire. Figuratively, a glimpse of the good (Shetlandic).
This work began as an attempt to map connections between English, Scottish, Singaporean, and Chinese spaces. The first version was more structured, but I began again, creating something looser and dreamlike, an imagined landscape without borders. It weaves together personal stories and folklore from different regions, from black shucks and kelpies to Houyi the archer who shot down golden crows.
