Gooseberry Bush

By  Olivia Irvine 2023
This painting is part of a series of recycled paintings where I painted white primer onto old paintings and removed some. it is a direct influence of working in fresco where the white is like the lime plaster and removing it is like sgraffito. It depicts a prickly gooseberry bush like the one at the bottom of our garden when i was growing up. We used to pick all the fruit before it was ripe because of the fear of missing out.
