Mini sculpture created from foam packaging and hard to recycle plastic waste. Free-machine embroidered and hand stitched. 2025
I recently changed the title from ‘Grateful I’m not American’ to ‘Discarded Rights’ as the UK laws changed and women are equally at risk of prosecution despite being able to access abortion.
Within the circular void sits an embroidered embryo with various threads crossing over and sewn text.
Text embroidered into the art reads:
State owned
Government property
Imprisoned after miscarriage
Accused of illegal abortion
Judged unfit mother
Forced adoption - Silenced, Shamed
