Commissioned by Ipswich Borough Council for the public square in the newly built Ravenswood development. Project partners Bellway Homes. The site was once a WW2 airfield and although the work references this the work is more directed to a growing community with its hopes and aspirations. It is a celebratory work that is full of youthful vigor. The plinth on which this sculpture stands takes its shape from the WW2 Picket Hamilton Forts located on the development. The work stands approx 7.5 metres tall including plinth and with LED uplights set into the plinth the piece is dramatically illuminated at night. Throughout Ravenswood are a number of small linked interventions which reference the centre piece sculpture.
