"Horizon Lines"

The mixed media beach artwork was created at South Beach in Whitehaven,West Cumbria in January 2017.I wanted to convey a sense of awe and mystery one feels when next to the Ocean,by creating the impression of an inner world within the Boulder,using a photograph of the same beach attached to the surface.The drawing of a jigsaw adds to the sense of puzzlement and gives the impression of a view into inner spaces or "worlds" within other realities.The image was photographed after the tide was going out, creating the illusion of an island in the sea.I spent a very cold four hours on the beach creating the temporary installation.
