IL TETTO/SOMEWHERE . A PROPOSITION

This is a proposition to place two works alongside each other under the collaborative partnership of Steve Dutton and Michelle Marie Forrest. Both works compliment and also disrupt each other. The left hand panel is Michelle's piece “Il Tetto”, which references the Vittorio Di Sica film of the same name. It is actually accessible via a browser (screen grabbed in the video), wherein each viewing is an encounter with a uniquely unfinished pattern generated by an “unproductive algorithm” that ensures the audio-visual house-puzzle never resolves. The right hand panel is a work by Steve Dutton which takes the opening bars of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and stretches them to maximum capacity.  Both pieces concern the impossibility of resolution in finding 'a place to call home'.
