King Canute sculpture in stainless steel

Christine Wilcox-Baker

Commissioned by the Cheshire Gardens Trust for their medal winning show garden at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2012 (see below), the sculpture was subsequently acquired by Knutsford Town Council and installed in summer 2014 in the gardens of the council offices immediately adjacent to the main A50. The work represents King Canute, from whom the town derives its name. It is constructed using a framework of structural stainless steel with an overlay of various stainless steel meshes and perforated sheets manipulated and formed into the finished sculpture. I am delighted that Art UK have now included King Canute on their register of public artworks.
