Layered History

By  Adam Grose 2014
A layered drawing in black biro of images seen and drawn at the archeaological museum in Merida. The idea explored how a country's identity is comprised of previous colonising cultures influencing the evolution of a nation's identity. I have been layering and juxtaposing images like this for over 30 years and born from looking at old sketchbooks from when I was 8 years old. I would fill every space of the sketchbook until I began layering on top of previous images, sparking an interest in the way our mind overlays memories, becoming mixed together, sometimes leading to mis-remembering events from different timezones.
