Leaf Litter

By Joanne Masding 2024 - 2025

Leaf Litter is a series of work based on botanical engravings, which have gone through multiple rounds of translation and versioning to get to the end point as artworks. The work considers the voice of the translation, hierarchies of knowledge and information, and using making and remaking as ways of generating bodily understanding.

Leaf Litter (ceramic) are made of clay tiles impressed with 3D printed scans of the engravings, each coated in oxides and underglazes and mounted on board then grouted.

Leaf litter (plastic) create an image of the original leaf shape from children's fuse beads, cast within plaster.
