Leda Three is the third of a series of paintings that responds to the frequently exploited myth of Leda’s rape by Zeus disguised as a swan, a subject usually depicted with uncritical sensuality.
The topic involves both a protest and pleasure in colour development resulting in unintended juxtapositions, affects and outcomes.
Attentive to Yeats’ poem the painting develops from shiny blood red with suggestions of beating wings, claws and feathers.
