The temporary artwork was created on a rock using carefully arranged limpet shells gathered from East Beach in Dunbar,East Lothian, Scotland In July 2023.I was attending the European Land Art Festival for a few days and my role was to create temporary environmental artworks along the beach for passing local and tourist footfall. I choose this particular location next to a beachside golf club as it had lots of passers by and walkers on the John Muir trail who could look down and observe as I created the artworks over the two days I was there.I had good responses to this particular creation ,arranging limpet shells into concentric circles on a boulder with Dunbar in the background. I wanted to make something simple and pattern oriented ,influenced by the ripples in the tide pools and fossils,and only had a few hours to collect the shells to make the intervention before the tide swept in and washed everything away.
