'Made in Taiwan' is one in the series of works 'Connecting With Gertrude' created on a 15 month residency at Plymouth College of Art.
'Made in Taiwan' includes a stopframe animation showing the 'unpicking' of a photograph of a woman from the Atayal tribe. She has tatoos on her face that she was given when she could weave and therefore had become a woman and could marry. The photograph was collected by the historical female explorer Gertrude Benham. The animation is only activated when someone uses the 8mm film editor.
