160cm x 100cm x 100cm

'Made in Tibet' is one in the series of works 'Connecting With Gertrude' created on a 15 month residency at Plymouth College of Art. 'Made in Tibet' includes a stopframe animation showing the 'unpicking' of a leather moccasin walking boot belonging to the historical female explorer Gertrude Benham. Gertrude wore these boots on her treks up mountains during one of her trips around the world. The animation is only activated when someone uses the sewing machine. The boot unpicks only when someone is using the machine to make.
