Moving with hoops

By  Sabine Kussmaul 2022 - 2025

I have developed a new arts practice with drawing and installation as a response to the outdoor environment of Bakestonedale Moor, an area in the vicinity of Pott Shrigley in the Peak District (UK). As a part of this work, I used leatherette fabric to craft long fabric tunnels into which I  insert thin wooden sticks, and, in this way make several circles that I interconnected with each other. Walking and moving around the environment, being attached to or holding these circles was an interesting. It made me think about the space that is being created by my own body and the objects in direct connection to me, and how this makes me experience the outdoor world. It makes me question my practices of using my body in landscape.
