The temporary intervention was created for a major ceramic fair at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, North Wales in September 2017.The artwork had to fit the ceramic theme and I was artist in residence for three day's creating interventions at the front of the art college.I was required to maintain a presence near the entrance so as to attract the attention of passers by and get them interested in the fair.In response, I drew out an outline of an aerial view of the nearby River Dee and initially used clay from the same river bed to mark out the flow. The clay however was the same colour of the floor so I substituted iron ore clay/sediment I brought down from West Cumbria instead and rubbed it in to the stone surface . I sketched the course of the river so that it appeared to flow from the entrance of the art college onto the pavement thus acting as an pathway to encourage passers by to walk into the building. It was interesting to note people observing the boundaries and sticking to the meandering path as it winded up the steps.Heavy rain failed to wipe away the artwork over the three days I was there.
