Building upon the success of the Chinese Art Centre's 'Don't Feed The Artist' live performance after hours program, Mike Chavez-Dawson has devised with writer JT Chavez a bespoke responsive art performance that takes on board the nuances of the CAC environment and, more importantly the reassessment of its own function and identity.
A theatrical art performance with a comedic dynamic, the piece will consist of three actors, two of them using walkie-talkies in order for the inside to communicate with the outside. Detective Ge Chan will be the Mandarin-speaking character analysing the space inside, ignoring the seemingly dead curator Mrs Couseptshon on the floor with a knife sticking out of her back, and recalling the evidence in potted mandarin. The external actor will be an Interpol police officer that will be translating to comic affect and engaging with the invited audience and passers by.
