Pareidolia at Portmeor
Pareidolia at Porthmeor emerged from a series of walks along the Cornish coastline. Through collecting, photographing and assembling found materials, the project investigates pareidolia, the tendency to perceive meaningful forms within ambiguous visual information.
Combining photography, moving image, text, found objects and small-scale installation, the work explores how narratives and patterns are attributed to natural forms and chance encounters. The project treats the coastline as a site of observation, where meaning emerges through interactions between material, environment and perception.
