Shoreditch 2006

Shoreditch 2006 is an experimental portrait film constructed from personal archive footage recorded in East London during the mid-2000s. Revisiting material captured within a rapidly changing artistic community, the film combines moving image fragments, photographs, voice recordings and digital artefacts to reconstruct a particular social and cultural moment.

Structured around the reflections of Christophe, the work moves between portrait, memoir and urban document. Through layered imagery, degraded recordings and fragmented narratives, the film explores the relationship between memory and evidence, asking how people, places and identities persist through traces long after the original events have passed.

Rather than presenting a historical record, Shoreditch 2006 treats the archive as a living material. The film assembles partial memories, and overlooked details to create an impression of a time and place shaped by artistic experimentation, friendship, creative ambition and change.

The result is both a portrait of an individual and a record of a disappearing cultural landscape.
