Pasiphaë Eight

By  Susan Banks 2019

Dimensions
60 x 60 x 4

Pasiphaë Eight alludes to Knossos and to Minoan painted artifacts in Heraklion Archaeological Museum playing with a faded, recreated and revised visual reality and particularly the irresistible dolphin mural, itself a “fanciful reconstruction”. Pasiphaë was the daughter of Helios, wife of King Minos, mother of Ariadne and of the Minotaur. She was a practitioner of witchcraft. Oil on deep canvas.
