The temporary beach intervention was created at East Beach in Dunbar,East Lothian, Scotland in early June 2023.I was in Dunbar for a couple of days for the European Land Art Festival creating temporary artworks for passing people to see.”Pebble Shell” was created over three hours using inverted limpet shells pushed into the sand with brightly coloured pebbles popped into the spaces of the shells. I wanted to create something that suggested a three dimensional element within the spacing,by graduating the size of the shells to create an illusion of scale.Gentle occasional rain was welcomed as it amplified the visual richness of the contrasting colours and tones of the pebbles.
