This body of work examines the differences and similarities of projection and containment. Using light, shadow and space as the key ideas underpinning the objects and installations. Kim's Statement and Bio Norton's collection of ceramic forms are made through process lead thinking. Fascinated by weight, density and the physicality of clay materiality is explored and pushed to its absolute breaking point. Surrendering control over to the process. The actions of hollowing out, carving, cutting and creating small pockets of space that invites the viewer to look into and through a series of cracks, crevices and containment. Kim graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2011 having studied a research-based MA in ceramics. She was selected for the Crafts Council Hothouse 3 programme in 2013. Completed a research residency within Spode for the British Ceramics Biennial 2013 and recently exhibited at Siobhan Davies Dance in London. Alexandra's Statement and Bio Alexandra’s collection is an exploration on subjects of illusion and transformation researched through the perspective of light. Light becomes a tool that creates intangible spaces that cannot be physically experienced. These spaces have an internal dynamic and undergo a series changes over time. Works made by Alexandra only exist with light presence and are moving prisms rather then solid objects. Alexandra Mazur-Knyazeva is a visual artist exploring the transformation of objects and spaces working with various materials and combining wide range of disciplines. A stuble state of change of being, and therefore total uniqueness of present are the initial stages for her art works that vary from small objects to large scale installatons. Alexandra Mazur-Knyazeva b. 1985, Graduated in 2011 from Central Saint Martins in MA Design specalising in ceramics since then she has gone on to exhibit nationally and internationally in London, Milan and New York. Collaborative statement Kim and Alexandra have been working collaboratively since 2011, a friendship formed during their MA. This partnership strongly emphasises the human senses and the emotional response or experience that arises from exploring spaces and different environments.
