Projected (drawn) light intervention

Projected (drawn) light intervention onto one of the Victorian radiators in the Castle's Long Gallery as part of the Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery Open Exhibition. From over 400 submissions selectors Amy Botfield, Arts Council England and artists Maeve Rendle and Alan Kane, included 37 artists representing the wide range of creative practice taking place in the region. This piece attempted to explore elements of the existing gallery architecture using projected light as a method of 'drawing' onto, and into, the building. Light, projected from a 35mm slide projector defines edges and surfaces of the metal victorian radiator. Due to prolonged projection, the 35mm slide denatures causing its opaque, black, background, to turn pink/red. A new slide was used each week so that the denaturing cycle repeated during the exhibition.
