Shadow Play

By  Robert Foster 2019
Shadow Play (2019) Enamel paint on MDF, wooden hand, driftwood, D20, selenite crystal, lamb bone, epoxy putty, gold leaf, chicken bones, thread and beads. Shadow Play continues my interest in reliquary sculptures and the presentation of sacred or revered objects. It evokes the hand, the necklace and the wand as archetypal symbols within the context of belief. The work brings together an assemblage of different materials, including crystal, gold leaf and animal bones, that hold potent visceral associations with ritual and the forms that evoke the reverential.
