To guide and beguile

By  Robert Foster 2016
Marbled paper, glass terrariums. Taking inspiration from the vivid emblematic imagery of esoteric teachings, To guide and beguile arranges found objects so as to unlock the latent potential hidden within these articles and open up new symbolic readings. By uncovering the evocative meanings that can be explored from these collected items, I hope to allude to the transformative power of the work of art and prompt new enquiries into the things that propagate the world around us, in turn referring to the work of the alchemists and their search for enlightenment in the materials that make up our received existence. The work was presented as part of Horizon at Roaming Room, London, UK.
