‘Slump’ features a ceramic representation of the coin pusher machine prevalent throughout the exhibition, made via slip casting from a plaster mould and finished in clear glaze the forms created by of the poured slip are highlighted. The shape is presented slumped into the metal framework as if part melted like a dropped ice-cream, it’s shape and the slip cast details picked out by a neon-like light tube
The piece explores the play between light and surface common within arcades and their surroundings while considering the vulnerability of such places. The cage acting part as containment, part as protection.
