Sticks and Stones and Broken Bones

By  Anna Masters 2012
‘Sticks and Stones and Broken Bones’ was created in 2012 as a temporary installation. Created with dried roses, mounted butterflies and vintage beads, it references a personal and cultural resistance to mortality and the passing of time. The materials, despite their beauty, are merely remnants of a past life. Left open and unprotected from the elements, the piece gradually deteriorated over time, slowly succumbing to its own temporality.
