Stir
By

2017
This art work was made for the Alfred East Garden and is based broadly on the idea of a picnic. Plastic cutlery is placed in the ground, suggesting sitting on the grass. In position it is digging in, claiming its own little spot, tucking into the earth, suggesting enjoying the outdoors and the sustenance, foods from the earth. Each artwork is a variation, bringing out different aspects of plastic cutlery and the garden.
This work shows the cutlery placed at different angles to each other, creating a sense of movement, a party perhaps or a festival: also the stirring of the earth, a mixing bowl, churned grass.
