Summer School was part of Towner Art Gallery’s Art School and is open to all artists. Nine studio spaces were available to allow artists and creatives to develop their practice in a quiet and concentrated way in a gallery setting with free access to staple materials, Wi-fi, a programme of exhibitions as inspiration and Collection Library for research.
AIMS: to spend six days making use of wall and floor space in an impromptu way using a range of materials and processes.
Ideas: slippage between 2 and 3 D, grids and folds, fabric as structure, scale, combining materials, space, positive and negative shapes, informal,
Materials: felt, velvet, calico, steel, paper, photocopies, paint
Processes: sewing, pinning, cutting, painting, stuffing, collaging
Forms: cushion, hanging, sagging, leaning, twisting,
