Tailored Solutions (Boat Park)

By  Bob Budd 2017
`Boat Park' - Chesil Beach, Portland, Dorset, UK. I noticed that an inshore fisherman always `parked’ his boat in the same place. So I `stitched’ a parking bay for his boat into the beach with red cloth. These works came about after I had met an old local tailor - I was originally attracted by his shop, which looked as if it had come from an earlier age. It seemed he had moved down to Portland from Manchester because of his love of the sea and for sailing. My works were an attempt to bring together two very different themes – tailoring and the beach/sea. I started by imagining the beach as the tailor’s work table………..
