Tea with J.E.M.Mellor Entomologist was made in response to artist Kate Murdoch's invitation in her piece "Borrow a cup of sugar Bring back a cup of memories" shown in 'Something Borrowed' exhibition at Arthouse1 Bermondsey London. I took one of her cups and returned it with a memory:
Memories of tea with my great-great uncle, an entomologist,
in his garden in Wiltshire amongst the hollyhocks and
buzzing bees. He told me of his time in Cairo in the
1920s and 1930s when he was the senior Entomologist
at the Ministry of Agriculture for Egypt. He did an extensive
study on comparing bee keeping in Palestine and Egypt.
