The Borderland

The Borderland is a performative piece and animation viewed inside a sculptural version of a Victorian Mutoscope. The work examines the term Hysteria and the pathologisation of women's behaviour. The Borderland refers to a place where language can only be expressed through the body Elaine Showalter refers to a 'specifically feminine protolanguage communicating through the body messages that cannot be verbalised'
