The figurative elements came about intuitively. Its a small 12 x 12 canvas which I painted fairly close up but when I stood back I could see figures on the left. The title is based on the strength of that.

I revisited Big Blue many times to rebalance colour relationships and to create a fresher and more realised painting.

Bcalm has a history of transition starting from 2013 when I exhibited this painting in a solo show in London, Thomas and Paul Gallery. Returning after the show I modified the painting by simplifying the complex array of shapes and making subtle changes to the colour values. Then in early 2015, post West Pier Art project, I changed it again.
