The edge

Sometimes my work is about harmonies as with 'The edge of'. Warm brown tones sit alongside warm blacks with a hint of blue. And the colour combinations and placements seem to create it's own light and a sense of stillness. Geometric shapes nestle together revealing previous history within or around each shape. Cloth, paper and oil paint create layers and surfaces which have a sense of an archaeological dig, aged and worn.

Bcalm has a history of transition starting from 2013 when I exhibited this painting in a solo show in London, Thomas and Paul Gallery. Returning after the show I modified the painting by simplifying the complex array of shapes and making subtle changes to the colour values. Then in early 2015, post West Pier Art project, I changed it again.
