The work comprises of 6 large format digital images based on the grounds at Holkham Hall, North Norfolk. The Earl of Leicester and Trustees of the Holkham Estate kindly permitted photography to take place in January 2000. The installation, The Landscape Room, shown at Norwich Arts Centre in 2001 made reference to the room of the same name at Holkham Hall where 17th century landscapes are displayed against crimson damask walls. The Red Books of East Anglian landscape designer Humphry Repton (1752 - 1818) also influenced the work. The Earl of Leicester owns a Red Book relating to Repton's designs for Holkham. Five information panels interpreted Prophet's work in the context of Holkham Hall, Repton's drawing technique, the ideals of the Picturesque landscape and the production of the work using new technology. The crimson walls were reproduced to draw the installation to a successful conclusion. These are 30" x 40" digital photographic prints. Two of the five Editions are in collections (one at the Castle Museum, Norwich, and the other at Deutsche Bank, London). The Norwich Castle Museum is currently exhibiting the piece installed against crimson walls with the work of John Crome displayed alongside. Price is per unframed print.
